Buying wifi mesh systems: what to look for
A mesh system uses two or more units that work as one network, so you get the same WiFi name and strong signal in every room instead of dead spots far from the router.
As a guide, one unit covers a 1-2 BHK flat, two units suit a 3-4 BHK or two floors, and three units suit villas or homes with thick walls. Connecting the units with a network cable (wired backhaul) gives the best speed.
Questions
Mesh or a range extender?
Mesh. Extenders create a second network and halve the speed; mesh units work as one network and hand your phone over automatically as you move.
WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 mesh?
WiFi 6 is plenty for most homes today. WiFi 7 makes sense for fast fibre plans (1 Gbps and above) and newer phones and laptops.
Can I add more units later?
Yes, Deco units of the same family can be added to an existing system from the Deco app.
