About the Cat6 UTP LAN Cable 305m Box (NCB-C6UGRYR-305)

The D-Link NCB-C6UGRYR-305 is a 305 m box of Cat6 U/UTP network cable with four twisted pairs of 23 AWG solid bare copper, as listed in D-Link's datasheet. It supports Gigabit Ethernet and PoE, and is the standard cable for structured cabling in offices, hotels, shops and homes - to access points, CCTV cameras, IP phones, PCs and printers.

Solid copper is what you want for permanent runs inside walls and ceilings: it terminates reliably on keystone jacks and patch panels and carries PoE without heating. Keep each run under 100 m from switch to device, and use patch cords (stranded) for the short connections at each end.

Good for

  • ✓Office and hotel structured cabling
  • ✓WiFi access points and CCTV runs
  • ✓New homes and renovations

Consider something else if: Outdoor runs or between buildings: use outdoor-rated cable or fibre. For 10 Gigabit over long runs choose Cat6A.

Questions about the Cat6 UTP LAN Cable 305m Box (NCB-C6UGRYR-305)

+Is it pure copper?

D-Link's datasheet lists 23 AWG solid bare copper for this model. Beware of cheap CCA (copper-clad aluminium) boxes, which fail with PoE.

+How long can one cable run be?

Up to 100 m from the switch to the device, including patch cords.

+Can it carry PoE for cameras and access points?

Yes, Cat6 solid copper is suitable for PoE and PoE+.

+Do you do the cabling work too?

Yes - we survey, lay the cable, terminate it on keystone jacks and patch panels, test every point and label it, in the tricity and on projects elsewhere.
